SOLAR PV FAQs
HOW DO I SHUT DOWN MY SOLAR PV SYSTEM?

There may be the odd occasion where you will need to shut down your PV system for a period of time, ie. when undertaking electrical work or rebooting the system. Shut down procedure must be carried out in the following order...

1. Switch off the AC isolator(s) - you may have 1 or 2 of these. One will be located at the inverter location and there may be a second at the location of the consumer unit feeding the PV system. These are normally a red and yellow coloured rotary switch, which should be clearly labelled.

2. Switch off the associated circuit breaker - this will either be within your main consumer unit or in a seperate unit and should be clearfly labelled with "PV System" or similar.

3. Shut down any batteries if home storage has been installed - manufacturer instructions should be followed here as all batteries are different, but generally speaking, there is normally a power button on each battery. Please see our Product Specific Support page for more info.

4. Finally, shut down the DC feed from the solar panels - One or multiple DC isolators should be located near to the inverter. These are normally coloured black and grey and should be clearly labelled. Some inverters may have a built in DC isolator which will also be labelled.

5. Check all lights and displays on inverter have gone out. The system has now been safety shut down. Follow start-up procedure to restart.

HOW DO I START MY PV SYSTEM BACK UP?

Following a PV system shut down, the system will need to be restarted using the correct procedure as detailed below...

1. Switch on the DC isolator(s) - One or mulitple DC isolators should be located near to the inverter. These are normally coloured black and grey and should be clearly labelled. Some inverters may have a built in DC isolator which will also be labelled.

2. Start up any batteries if home storage has been installed - manufacturer instructions should be followed here as all batteries are different, but generally speaking, there is normally a power button on each battery. Some batteries, FOX-ESS for example also require a second button to be pushed and held for a number of seconds on each battery. Please see our Product Specific Support page for more info.

3. Switch on the associated circuit breaker - this will either be within your main consumer unit or in a seperate unit and should be clearfly labelled with "PV System" or similar.

4. Switch on the AC isolator(s) - you may have 1 or 2 of these. One will be located at the inverter location and there may be a second at the location of the consumer unit feeding the PV system. These are normally a red and yellow coloured rotary switch which should be clearly labelled.

5. Check inverter display and/or lights have illuminated. The system will now go through a self test and start up process. Once completed correctly (normally after around 30 seconds to 1 minute), the system should now start functioning as normal. If any fault lights or codes are displayed on inverter then further troubleshooting may be required. Please refer to our Product Specific Support page.

MY PV GENERATION DATA IS NOT APPEARING ON THE MONITORING APP. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If your data is not appearing within the app, this could be for a number of reasons. Most commonly, the datalogger has temporarily lost communication with your WIFI router. There are a number of troubleshooting options you can try...

1. Reset your WIFI router - usually a quick switch off and on will achieve this. Some routers have a RESET button. Follow manufactrer instructions if unsure.

2. Logout of and restart your monitoring app on your phone or monitoring device.

2. Reboot your PV system - follow shut down and then start-up procedures as detailed below.

3. Reset your datalogging device - please refer to our Product Specific Support page for information on how to do this.

4. If none of the above options resolve the issue, please get in touch and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
